This site belongs to the author V.R. Pfalt. It collects as little as it can, and nothing here is sold, rented or used for advertising.

If you join the mailing list

• What is kept: your email address, the first name you gave (if any), the date you signed up, which form you used, and the promise that was shown to you when you signed up.
• What it’s for: release news for Razed Phoenix, and a note when V.R. Pfalt is looking for beta readers. Nothing else.
• Who sees it: only the author. If the emails are sent through a newsletter service, your address is copied there for that purpose only.
• Leaving: every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also reply to any email and ask to be removed, and your details will be deleted.

If you’re a beta reader

• What is kept: the username and display name the author set up for you, your password in scrambled (hashed) form that no one can read, the highlights and notes you make, how far you’ve read, and when you last signed in.
• Who sees it: your notes and progress are visible only to you and the author. Other readers never see them.
• Leaving: ask the author to remove your account. Your login, notes and progress are then deleted.

Cookies and tracking

There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The only cookie is the sign-in cookie for beta readers, and it’s set only when you sign in. The fonts are served from this site, so your browser doesn’t contact any other company to show these pages. The site also remembers in your own browser that you’ve joined the mailing list, so it doesn’t keep asking.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare, which handles every request to deliver the pages and keeps short-lived technical logs to keep the service running and secure.
